Multiple articles

Display a list of articles as an accordion, blog, list or mosaic

Available with the Essentials plan and higher. The document download function is available with the Premium plan and higher.

The Multiple articles module displays a list of articles from one or more categories. Each article can open in a detail page that presents its full content. Use this module for a blog, a news section, a list of resources or a FAQ section.

In this article

Add the module to a page

In the configuration window of a zone, select the Website feature, then Multiple articles in the Zone module list. To learn how to open this window, see the article List of modules in the Website feature.

The Title and Style fields, at the top of the window, add a title above the module and set its level (Title 1 to Title 6).

The settings offered in the window vary depending on the selected display mode. Choose the mode first.

Choose the display mode

Select the mode in the Display mode list of the Display options section.

Accordion

Articles are displayed as a list of titles that visitors open and close to show or hide their content. There is no detail page: all the content is displayed in the list. This mode is particularly suited to FAQ sections.

Accordion mode

This mode offers two additional settings:

  • Display Details: choose whether articles are Closed or Opened when the page loads.
  • Open the first item: when articles are closed, automatically opens the first article in the list.

Visitors can then open and close articles as they wish.

Blog

Articles are displayed as a list of previews. Clicking an article leads to its detail page.

Blog mode

This mode offers the Show a featured article setting, which highlights the first article according to the selected display order.

News list to the left and News list to the right

The first article, according to the selected display order, is displayed in full. The other articles form a list to its left or right. Clicking an article in the list leads to its detail page.

Mosaic

Article previews are displayed in a grid, on several columns. This mode highlights articles that include an image. Clicking an article leads to its detail page.

Mosaic mode

This mode offers two additional settings:

  • Number of articles per line: from 1 to 4.
  • Show pagination: spreads the articles over several pages when their number exceeds the Number of articles displayed on the main page.

Settings common to all modes

Display options

  • Display order:
    • Creation Date: from oldest to newest.
    • Creation date descending: from newest to oldest.
    • Alphabetical or Alphabetical descending: according to the title of the articles.
  • Show RSS Feed Icon: displays an icon that lets visitors subscribe to the RSS feed of the articles. (see Offer an RSS feed)

Articles displayed

  • Category of articles displayed: select one or more categories, or all categories. Learn more in the article Article categories and keywords.
  • Keywords: limits the display to articles with the selected keywords. Leave the field empty to not filter.
  • Groups: limits the display to articles associated with the selected groups. Learn more in the article Create Custom Groups.
  • Archive display: an archived article is an article whose end date of posting has passed. Choose Display all articles, Display articles without archives or Only display archives. Learn more in the article Schedule the end of display of an article.

To create an archives page, add a second Multiple articles module with the Only display archives option.

Elements on detail view

Check the elements displayed when the visitor opens an article: Title of the article, Creation date, Image, Introduction, Article, Author, Category, Keywords and Group. In Accordion mode, these elements are displayed in the opened article.

Search functions

  • Enable category filter: displays a list of categories above the articles. Useful when the module displays several categories.
  • Enable keywords filter: lets visitors filter articles by one or more keywords.

Call to action

  • Details page: by default (No redirect), the detail page is displayed in the module itself. Select another page of your website to display the full content of the articles there, for example a page that contains a Single article module used as a container. Learn more in the article Settings common to all modules.
  • Label for Read more link: text of the link that opens the detail page. By default, the link is shown as an arrow.

Download documents

Available with the Premium plan and higher.

This section lets visitors download the documents attached to an article from its detail page. First attach the documents to the article in its Settings tab, Download documents field. Learn more in the article Create a media library.

  • No downloads: the attached documents are not offered for download.
  • Activate the download function: displays the download area under the content of the article.

Once the function is activated, select the articles that accompany the download. Create them beforehand in Website > Articles.

  • Introduction article: article displayed under the content of the detail page to present the documents. It is the only article displayed when data collection is disabled.
  • Article when download is allowed: in connected mode only, this article replaces the introduction article once the visitor is logged in.
  • Confirmation article after download: when data collection is enabled, this article replaces the introduction article (or the permission article) once the document is downloaded.
  • Activate the data collection function: check this box to ask visitors for information before the download.

When data collection is enabled, configure the following settings:

  • Contact form used: form from the Contacts feature that visitors fill out.
  • Contact identification:
    • Mode not connected: the form is displayed under the introduction article. Visitors do not need an account.
    • Connected mode: a login module is displayed under the introduction article. Visitors must log in or create an account to download the document.
  • Data collection strategy: with each download, the visitor fills out one section of the contact form. Once all sections are completed, the selected strategy applies:
    • Show all sections of the form: the complete form is displayed with each download.
    • Do not display the form: the visitor downloads the document directly.

Split your contact form into several short sections. Visitors then provide their information gradually, download after download, instead of filling out a long form right away.

List view and detail page (Blog, News list and Mosaic modes)

The modes that lead to a detail page offer two additional sections.

Elements on list view

Check the elements displayed in the preview of each article in the list: Title of the article, Creation date, Image, Introduction, Author, Category, Keywords and Group. Drag the elements to change their display order.

Detail page interface

The detail page of an article can present a block of other articles to encourage the visitor to keep reading.

  • Display mode: position of the block of other articles relative to the main article (above, under, left or right), or Do not show other news.
  • Other news - Block title: title of the block. By default, the block has no title.
  • Label of the link back to the list of articles: text of the link that takes the visitor back to the list.
  • Show creation date, Show author name, Show category name and Show keywords: information displayed for each article in the block.
  • Number of articles: number of articles in the block.
  • Number of articles with photo: number of articles in the block displayed with their thumbnail.
  • Number of columns: 2, 3 or 4 columns.

Click Save and close to display the articles on the page.

To display a few articles without pagination or filters, for example the last three news items on the home page, use the Featured Articles module instead.

Offer an RSS feed

The RSS feed lets your visitors follow your articles in a feed reader, such as Feedly or the RSS reader in Outlook or Thunderbird, and be notified of each new article. A partner website can also use it to display your articles automatically.

  1. Open the Multiple articles module of the page.
  2. Check Show RSS Feed Icon. The option is available in every display mode.
  3. Click Save and close.

The RSS icon appears in the top right corner of the module. Visitors find the feed address there and add it to their feed reader.
