Restrict access to a page or section of your website

Limit access to a whole page or a section to logged-in people or to certain groups.

Available with the Essentials plan and higher. Access by groups is available with the Plus plan and higher.

You can reserve a whole page or a single section of a page for people logged in to your website, for example your active members or the participants of an event. With the Plus plan and higher, you can also limit access to certain groups, such as your board of directors.

Your visitors must be able to log in to your website. See Allow members and non-members to log in to your website.

Reserve a whole page

  1. In Website, open your website, then the Pages tile.
  2. Open the page, then the Configuration tab.
  3. In the Access section, check Restrict page access to connected people.
  4. Save.

The page no longer appears in the menu for visitors who are not logged in. If someone who is not logged in opens its address, they are taken to the login page; once logged in, they can access the page.

Reserve a section of a page

The rest of the page stays visible to everyone; only the chosen zone is reserved.

  1. Open the page, then click the zone to reserve.
  2. In the Visibility section, check Limit access to this area depending on whether the user is logged in or not.
  3. Choose Limit access to logged in users, or the opposite: Limit access to users who are not logged in.
  4. Save.

Combine two zones on the same page: one reserved for logged-in people with the exclusive content, and one reserved for people who are not logged in that presents the benefits of membership and a button to join.

Limit access to certain groups

With the Plus plan and higher, you can reserve a page or a zone for logged-in people who belong to certain custom groups.

  • For a page: in the Configuration tab, after checking Restrict page access to connected people, check Limit access to this page based on the groups associated with the connected person, then choose the Associated groups.
  • For a zone: in the zone's Visibility section, check Limit access according to user groups, then choose the Associated groups.

A logged-in person who does not belong to these groups is redirected to the home page, with a message saying they do not have access to this page.

For more details on zone visibility settings, see Settings common to all modules.
