Customize the 404 page
Replace the error page with a page in your colours that helps visitors find their way.
Available with the Essentials plan and higher.
The 404 page appears when a visitor opens an address that does not exist on your website, for example an old link or a typo. You can replace it with a page in your colours that helps visitors find their way.
Create the 404 page
- In your website's Pages tile, add an Internal page, for example "Page not found".
- In the Access section, check Don't display this page in your web site menu.
- In the Edit tab, add a clear message, for example: "The page you are looking for does not exist. Go back to the home page." You can add other modules: your latest news, your upcoming events, an image, etc.
- Save.
Use a page created only for this purpose. Do not use your home page or a content page: the chosen page returns a 404 error to search engines and will no longer be indexed.
Activate the 404 page
- In Website, open your website, then click the Settings tile.
- In Page to display in case of 404 error, choose your page.
- Click Save.
Test the page
Add a few letters at the end of the address of a page on your website, for example /en/test-404, and open it: your 404 page should appear.
