Add a call-to-action (CTA) button to a page

Turn a text editor link into a clickable button that encourages your visitors to register, donate or become a member.

Available with the Essentials plan and higher.

A call-to-action (CTA) button draws attention to the main action of a page: registering for an event, making a donation, becoming a member. The text editor turns any link into a button, with no HTML knowledge. The button automatically uses the colours and size set by your website template.

  1. In the Custom content module (or in an article), select the button text, for example "Register now", then click the Link icon in the toolbar.
  2. In the Link Info tab, enter the destination address in the URL field. To point to a document, click Browse Server instead (see Host files and create download links).
  3. Open the Advanced tab and enter btn in the Stylesheet Classes field.
  4. Click OK, save, then view the page on your website to see the result.

Other classes change the button's appearance depending on your template or custom styles. Add them after btn, separated by a space. For example, several templates use btn btn-primary to apply the website's main colour.

To open the destination in a new tab, choose New Window (_blank) in the Target tab of the link window.
