Yapla has recently introduced a new, more user-friendly and efficient feature, Yapla Newsletters powered by Cakemail. Here are the steps to help you transition from the old to the new Yapla Newsletters tool, powered by Cakemail.
Step 1 - Activate Yapla Newsletters
-
Click "Settings" than "Features".
- Click "External software".
- Activate Newsletters.
Step 2 - Enter Brand Information
Go to the new Newsletters tab, select your profile in the top right corner, and click on Brand.
- The sub-tabs Confirmation Page and Opt-in emails contain all the branding settings displayed to users who subscribe to your newsletters and receive a confirmation email. Enter your brand colors and add your logo. Click on preview to see a preview before publishing.
- The Smart Templates tab allows you to add visual elements that will be automatically included in your smart templates. This will help you create customized newsletter designs more quickly.
Once your brand settings are configured, click Publish.
Details of branding elements:
- Logo: A transparent PNG file, 400 pixels wide by 200 pixels high.
- Colors: We recommend using your hexadecimal codes if available. Otherwise, you can select from a palette.
You can now use smart templates to create your first newsletter. Go to Campaigns > Smart Templates, choose a template, then click Create campaign under the desired template. Use the drag-and-drop editor to customize the sections of your template. The templates will be adapted to your brand identity. You will then find the selected template in the Drafts sub-tab. You can continue editing or publish your campaign.
Step 3 - Import Content and Create a New Template
To ensure you do not lose your content (images, texts, logo, design), or to continue sharing your old newsletters, here are the options available to you. Otherwise, it is possible to start fresh and create a new template directly in the new functionality.
Download Old Newsletters in PDF Format
To get inspiration from your old newsletter templates or retrieve the text, make sure to download the newsletters from the old feature in PDF format.
- Go to the "Newsletter" tab of the old Newsletter feature.
- Select the newsletter you want to download.
- Click on the web version link to retrieve its content.
- Once on the web version, click "Print".
- Select "Save as PDF" then save the file to your computer.
Create Download Links for Your Old Newsletters' PDF Files
Once your newsletters are downloaded in PDF format, you can use them as inspiration to recreate them or continue sharing a web link to the file. Clicking on this link will open the PDF file in the browser.
To learn how to create a download link for a file in Yapla, consult this article. Then use this link to continue sharing the newsletter.
Download Images from the Old Newsletter Server for Reuse
It is also recommended to download the images stored on the old newsletter server if you wish to reuse them to build a new template for the new feature.
- Still in the old Newsletter feature, go to the "Campaign" tab.
- Click on any text-containing area.
- Select the "Image" tile in the text editor.
- Select Browse Server. You can select and download the images you want to reuse easily.
Create a New Template
You can use an existing smart template to easily create your first newsletter. Your logo and colors will automatically be applied to enhance your brand.
Consult this article for more details on designing your newsletters.
Step 4 - Manage Senders
If you have your own domain, it is important to define your sender’s emails. Check out this article to learn how to add a custom sender.
Ensure that your domain is authenticated to guarantee optimal deliverability. Learn more about the protocols by consulting the article Authenticating my domain with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC protocols.
Step 5 - Migrate Contacts
Once your account is activated, your contacts will be automatically synchronized by Yapla. You will find them under the Contacts tab in Cakemail. To learn more about the automatic synchronization of contacts between Yapla and your newsletters, check out this article. Pay particular attention to the contacts used for sending newsletters.
This is the most complex and delicate part of the project. To learn more about how to import bounced and unsubscribed contacts into the new Yapla Newsletters, read this article.
