Conditions of the voluntary contribution mode
To ensure the sustainability of this model and continue offering this option to as many users as possible, we have set a limit of $500 per credit card transaction in voluntary contribution mode. This limit ensures a balance that allows associations of all sizes to benefit from an accessible and fair service.
With the voluntary contribution mode, you receive 100% of the payments made via Yapla, with no fees or commissions.
A limit of $500 per transaction applies to the voluntary contribution mode.
- For transactions over $500, the account administrator can enable an option to pay the standard commission fees (3.90% + $0.30). Once this option is enabled, payments over $500 can be made via credit card and Google Pay, but will no longer be processed under voluntary contribution mode. By default, this option is disabled.
- If the option is not enabled, these payment methods will not be available for transactions over $500. The association must either adjust the payment amount or offer another payment method, such as a bank transfer or check, which remains free.
How to configure commission or voluntary contribution mode
If you prefer, you can disable this mode and choose the Commission mode. In this case, a fee of 3.90% + $0.30 will be deducted from each credit card payment, regardless of the amount. To configure the desired mode, go to Payments > Settings > Payment methods.
Ensure the Credit Card payment method is enabled, then click Configure.
Choose the desired contribution mode for your transactions.
If you choose the voluntary contribution mode, you can check the box Accept transactions above $500. This option allows you to process transactions over $500 in commission mode, meaning that a fee of 3.90% + $0.30 will apply.
If you leave the box unchecked, these transactions over $500 cannot be processed via credit card. You will therefore need to ensure that alternative payment methods are available for these transactions or adjust the applicable amount.

How the voluntary contribution mode works
Important: If you process a credit card payment through the administration panel (i.e., directly from Yapla instead of the web page), the contribution is not applicable because it is not presented to the user. In this case, transaction fees and commission apply: 3.90% + $0.30 per transaction.
During a transaction on your site, users are invited to leave a contribution when making their payment. The contribution is optional, and the amount is flexible. This voluntary contribution is crucial to us, as it allows you to benefit from our platform for free.
Display of the voluntary contribution mode on the website:
When your users choose to pay by credit card, the voluntary contribution appears in the payment summary. They can modify the contribution amount or choose not to leave one. Information about the voluntary contribution will always be displayed to explain the purpose of this suggestion.
Issuance of Receipts
Your users will automatically receive a detailed payment receipt, including their contribution. Here is a preview of the receipt:
Please note that only your users will automatically receive the payment receipt. A copy of this communication is not available in your Yapla account, and you will not be CC'd on the email. To retrieve this email, note that it comes from no-reply@yapla.com, and the subject line is: Here is your payment receipt.
Frequently Asked Questions
In case of a refund, is it possible to also refund the voluntary contribution?
The voluntary contribution is not refunded when a refund is issued. Learn more about accounting based on contribution method.
How can I reduce the suggested voluntary contribution amount?
The suggested voluntary contribution amount cannot be modified. However, it remains optional and can be adjusted by users at the time of payment.
How can Yapla be offered for free?
We are committed to offering you a 100% free plan that covers our operating costs. To do this, we allow your users to leave us a voluntary contribution when they make a payment via Yapla. If this mode does not suit you, you can disable it at any time. A rate of 3.90% + $0.30 per transaction will then apply.
