Configuration of “object” type fields to export links between objects

The Data application allows you to link elements together by means of an object type field. By default, the Export function of the Data application simply allows you to export the list of elements of an object. However, you can choose to export the details of the links between objects. This allows you to have an overview in order to visualize all the information relating to the various elements of associated objects.

Where to set up detailed export?

In the Data application, choose your object from the list of objects.

On your object's page, choose the Forms tile.

In the Fields tab, select your object type field from the list of custom fields. An object linked to a member or to another object necessarily has a  custom type object field which allows the link between the two.

Set up the subject field

Select the object type field to open its configuration page. In the reference options of the parent object and of the child object, you have the option of checking the Allow detailed export of associated objects box.

Once the box has been checked, when you perform an export, the report presents, for each object element, as many lines as there are links. You will therefore see a line for each link of this element with the other object (linked by the object type field).

You can uncheck the box at any time. Reports will revert to their original form of one line per item.

For example, you could have a Gardens object with an object type field that links elements to those of another Flowers object. In this example, each garden contains several species of flowers.

If you check the option that allows detailed export, the report will present for each garden (= item of the Gardens object) as many rows as it has associated flowers (= item of the Flowers object). This view also allows you to obtain information about flowers (scientific name, identification number, etc.).

If you uncheck the option, the export will show only one row per garden, without the associated flower details.

Warning: The detailed export is only available from the Data application. Reports issued by other applications always have only one line per item.

Export the elements of an object

Once the field is set up, return to the list of items of your object and click on mceclip6.png. You will see a confirmation request. Choose the Export all columns option. The Export columns displayed on the screen option only allows you to display the search results as presented on Yapla.
