[Modules](https://support.yapla.com/en-ca/create-my-website?hsLang=en-ca#modules) # Enable the shopping cart and payment on the website ## Group several purchases in a single payment and understand how payment works on your website. **Available with the Essentials plan and higher.** The shopping cart lets your site visitors group several purchases in a single transaction. Purchases are added to the cart until the visitor proceeds to payment. Products from the [online store](https://support.yapla.com/en-ca/create-an-online-store-beta?hsLang=en-ca) always go through the cart; for memberships, event registrations, donations and objects from the Data feature, you enable it yourself. Online store products cannot be in the same cart as a membership, a registration or a donation. Visitors must pay for them separately. Go to **Payments \> Settings \> Shopping carts**. 2. Check the features for which the cart is offered: **Members**, **Events**, **Donations** and **Objects**. 3. If needed, check **Suggest the payment methods for all the products in the basket**. This option applies if you have customized payment methods by feature. In the same menu, the **Cart list** card shows the purchases completed or started on your site. ### Add the cart to your site 1. Create a page dedicated to the cart, for example *My cart*. 2. Click the main zone, select the **Store** feature, then the **Cart** module. 3. If needed, display a text above the cart in the **Articles displayed** section: choose the **Category**, then the article. 4. Click **Save and close**. To make the cart visible on every page, add its icon to the header: in your site's [master pages](https://support.yapla.com/en-ca/how-the-master-pages-work?hsLang=en-ca), edit the **Header** module and enable the **Cart Section**. ### Configure cart communications Purchases made with the cart send their own communications: a payment confirmation and, for payments by cheque, transfer or cash, a pending payment notice. Configure them in **Payments \> Settings \> Communications**. If you enable cart communications, disable the equivalent automated communications in the Members, Events and Donations features. Otherwise, your buyers will receive several copies of their invoice. ### How payment works on the site With or without the cart, payment works the same way for a membership, a registration or a donation: 1. If you offer several payment methods, visitors choose theirs. 2. They fill in their billing information. The form is pre-filled with the information entered in the previous steps. 3. The next step depends on the payment method: - **Credit card**: visitors enter their payment information. The amount is charged immediately, except for monthly donations and instalment payments. The transaction has the status **Validated**. - **Cheque, cash or bank transfer**: visitors go directly to the confirmation page, which displays the payment instructions. The transaction keeps the status **Pending Payment** until you record the payment received.
